Something about mixing utility clothing with ruffles feels so right. It gives off an edgy vibe with the most lady-like of manners, and it’s a good combination.
This amazingly silky vest was a TJ Maxx find (linked below). It’s a gorgeous pale sage green with a draped cut and hidden tie waist. You can pair it with so many outfits. This is just one example, but you can imagine jeans, a simple white tee + vest, black midi skirt, chambray shirt + vest, cut offs, pink tank + vest…I could go on and on and on. It adds another layer, and keeps you feeling and looking put together.
My favorite feature of a vest is it adds pockets to my outfit. When I am running to the park with the kids, I have a place to put my keys where they will not get lost in the abyss of my bag. I have an extra spot to put a bribery sucker. There is a place for the tiny car my son suddenly decides to give me mid-grocery store trip. Mom’s can never have enough pockets.
This tank is so light and breezy, and has the same lovely green plus pale pink. The ruffle at the bottom is such a sweet added detail and looks great with any bottoms – skinny jeans to skirts to shorts. It comes in other colors (all linked below!) and is under $20.
My jeans are a favorite pair from Old Navy. They are my go to. Whenever I want a new wash or a distressed version, my first stop is Old Navy because I am sure they have what I am looking for and they fit. We all know what buying a pair of jeans can be like, but Old Navy comes through every time.
If you have not bought these booties, I highly encourage you to try them on. They are so comfortable! With the perforated fabric open toe they are not ridiculously hot to wear in the summer. I love them so so much and have them in both black and this color.

Just wanted to mention how much appreciated it is that you link such affordable items from affordable places! I’m seeing so many pretty outfits that I have no way of replicating because the cheapest item is hair tie and it’s still like $50 (an exaggeration but you know what I mean). So just wanted to stop by to say thanks and best wishes in your further blogging!
Thank you Ilona! It makes me so happy I can help by finding affordable fashion. Looking good (and finding quality pieces) should not be expensive.
I love this outfit! I like the idea of mixing ruffles with a utility completer piece.
