Maple Whisky Sour

This is the perfect cocktail to ring in the New Year – it’s sweet, has depth, and a tart pucker from the lemon. I used J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe Whisky for it’s smooth flavor. It pairs so well with the maple and lemon flavors. A sprinkle of cinnamon is the perfect touch for a cozy night in (or for a party, whenever we have one of those again!).

I was not always a whisky person – I’ve tried a few whisky cocktails here and there with my husband, and this is by far my favorite and one I love to make around the holidays. It’s great for sipping and relaxing. If you’re spending the night in, I highly recommend mixing one (or several) of these up! I am going to try a hot toddy with J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe Whisky next. Sign me up for warm winter drinks.

I’ve linked classic to chic whisky glasses + the ice cube trays we used to make the cocktails special. Any would make awesome birthday, housewarming, shower or wedding gifts. Cheers to the New Year and the hope of parties to attend!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ ounces (3 tablespoons) J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe Whisky
  • 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3ish teaspoons maple syrup, or to taste
  • Sprinkle of ground cinnamon or a cinnamon stick to stir
  • Fun ice cubes

In a shaker, combine ice, whisky, lemon juice and maple syrup. Shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over “fun” ice cubes, such as large round or square. Sprinkle with cinnamon or swirl with a cinnamon stick.
